A team of four talented engineering students from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Balamand has developed an innovative project titled “Body Gesture Controlled Home Automation,” aimed at enhancing the independence and inclusion of elderly individuals and people with disabilities. This groundbreaking project is unique in that it simultaneously incorporates three distinct control techniques: hand gestures, eye tracking, and voice interfaces.
The multidisciplinary team consisted of two students from the Electrical Engineering Department, Alexandre Yaacoub and Takla Sassine, and two students from the Computer Engineering Department, Hassan Mroueh and Thalia Yammine. The project was executed as part of their BS final year project under the supervision of Dr. Moustapha El Hassan, an Associate Professor within the Electrical Engineering Department.
